Stefano Cavallo Born in Genova in 1956, I started playing guitarwhen I was 13 in my school band in which, by fate, Martino Coppo was the bass player. In 1979 I co-founded, with Martino and the late great Marco Curreri, the band Green Cellar Society, which Silvio Ferretti and Paolo Bonfanti would join later on. When the Green Cellar folded I kept playing Bluegrass with other minor bands in Genova, like Bluegrass Express and Midwest Pickin' Enterprise. All along I pursued my favorite hobby, audio recording, and made up a fairly good home studio which is used, mostly for pre-production work, by several artists of the Genoa area, like guitar player Mauro Culotta (who played with Ramazzotti, Bertè, and others, and wrote several songs for Mina), drummer Enrico Spigno (Giorgio Gaber), multi-instrumentalist Marco Zoccheddu (Battiato, Nuova Idea), keyboard player Giorgio Usai (New Trolls), pianist Fabio Vernizzi, singer-songwriter Max Manfredi, and others. I've also worked for some advertisement groups, creating and recording jingles and audio tracks for TV spots. Having to use different instruments was a good start for me to play the bass. In 1999 I became the bass player of Reunion, a veteran Beatles cover band based in Genova. With them I recorded two CDs and played at prestigious shows and TV programs in Italy and abroad (Red Ronnie, "Dopofestival" di Sanremo, RAI International, La Vita In Diretta, TV Svizzera, BBC). In 2005, with Reunion, I went to London to record, at historical Abbey Road's Studio 2, some cuts for a Beatles song collection album. In 2006 I've become Red Wine's bass player, rejoining my old friends Martino and Silvio with whom I had started to explore, a good 27 years before, the magical world of Bluegrass. mail Stefano |
